There is nothing normal about Rebecca and Bill. Rebecca, having been born and raised in Southern Brazil, returned to the USA to attend college and eventually raise a family. Bill, raised in a Navy family, moved around a lot and always had an inquisitive nature. Both have had an entrepreneurial spirit from the start. They have done everything from web publishing before it was even a thing (back in 1992), to selling homeschool supplies, to administering an international school.

So why a flower farm?

Upon returning from Brazil, they became garden directors for a foster facility. One of the tasks was planting a cut flower field. Rebecca comes from a long line of farmers on both sides of her family and is a certified Master Gardener. Bill and Rebecca both grew seedlings to give away to their community for several years. However, they had never grown cut flowers before.

The process of growing cut flowers from seed was introduced to them and Rebecca fell in love. After a few seasons of growing and selling at farmer’s market, the passion stayed. Unfortunately, Covid-19 put a wrench into the gardening job they had and both found themselves at home, wondering what the future held.

A future of hope.

Another wrench was added to the mix, when Rebecca realized she needed to be available to help her mother, the sole caregiver to Rebecca’s father, who has Alzheimers. After evaluating all their options, they put what little they had into starting a flower farm in 2020.

There is a lot of hope in connecting with the community by providing flowers, and assurance in knowing they have the skills to make the flower farm work.

Life sure gave all of us a curve-ball in 2020. Many of us are now realizing how the stress from these events are taking a toll on us. Something as simple, yet cheerful, as a cut flower bouquet is one way to cope with the anxiety of life. We want to give you hope by reducing your stress and bringing a smile to your face!

If nothing else, Covid-19 has forced us to slow down, and hopefully smell the flowers!
